2017 Winter Reading Program: Take a Byte Out of Books!
Monday, December 19 (All day) to Tuesday, February 28 (All day)


All ages are welcome to participate in our Winter Reading Contest!

Only books checked out from the DeForest Area Public Library or Overdrive between December 19 and February 28 count.

Forms are available at the front desk.

Birth - 1st grade: 10 books = 1 Dragon Dollar
2nd - 4th grade: 5 books = 1 Dragon Dollar
5th grade - adult: 1 book = 1 Dragon Dollar
All ages: 1 program = 1 Dragon Dollar

Predators & Prey With The Friends of the Henry Vilas Zoo | Thursday, February 23 - 1:00pm | Community Room


The predator/prey relationship is one of the most important in the natural world.

Our zoo educator will help us look at the adaptations and strategies that animals have to survive in their habitat.

Fascinating facts and close-up views of some creatures will be featured.

Which animals are coming is a secret, so be prepared!

This program is free and open to the public. All ages are invited.

Steam Punks Maker Club - M.A.M.E. Arcade Machine | Saturday, February 25 - 1:00pm | MakerLab


Join the Steam Punks maker club to build their first project...MAME Arcade Machine

The Steam Punks maker club is a group that meets to work on larger projects. The current project we will be building is a M.A.M.E. arcade machine. We will be building the cabinet out of wood. Then we will be installing real arcade controls and setting up the computer inside to emulate an arcade machine.

Patrons under 13 should be accompanied by an adult.

Triptych Book Club offers a middle grade book, a high school book, and a graphic novel with a similar theme. We will discuss the theme, learn trivia, DIY Project, and enjoy a snack.

Open Lab Explore the DeForest Library MakerLab | Thursday, March 2 - 3:00pm | MakerLab


The first Thursday of each month we open the MakerLab after school and welcome anyone to come in and explore.

We will have many fun science kits to tinker with or just come in to lean more about what the Think Tank MakerLab is all about and has to offer. It's scientastic!
