DeForest Library Egg Drop
Wednesday, July 10 - 6:00pm


Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to save your egg from certain scrambling.

  • LEARN about kinetic energy and how to cancel its effects
  • BUILD a protective vehicle for your egg cargo
  • DROP the vehicle with the egg inside off the second floor of the library to see if your building skills have saved it.

Stay in the library after we close at 8:00 pm! There will be a scavenger hunt, food, and activities. All children and teens must attend with a parent or guardian.

QiGong Special Outdoor Summer Classes
Thursday, July 11 - 9:30am | Village Green - Across from the Library


Along with our regular Tuesday morning sessions, instructor Nancy Osley will offer QiGong practice on selected Thursday mornings at the Village Green across the street from the Library.

Anyone (age 16 & up) is invited to sign a waiver and participate.

Qigong is a moving meditation that is simple, easy to learn, and can be done by everyone, at any age and fitness level.

Just mirror the movements of the instructor and reduce tension, improve breathing, and increase flexibility.

Summer Open Lab

Anyone is welcome to come into the Workshop to explore and see what it has to offer. Try your hand at sphero, osmo, snap circuits, and 3D printing, or many other options to nurture your inner scientist. There will be a librarian on hand to answer your questions and to help get you started.

Memoir Writing Group

Have you ever wanted to write about your life?

This Memoir Writing Group is for those who want to write about their life experiences and memories.

Facilitator Laurel Lybbert says it is easier than you think to write your memories. Laurel will offer tips and memory joggers to help you get started. Then you are invited to read what you've written or to share something that intrigues or inspires you. Or to just listen to our memories and be inspired.

In our fast-paced society there is still a place for handwritten notes - especially for something as important and personal as the thank-you note.

Is there someone you've wanted to thank and you just haven't taken time to do it? On the second Thursday of each month, we'll supply the cards, pens and stamps for you to send a little joy someone's way!
