Library Closure Information (updated 3/24)
The DeForest Area Public Library is closed to the public until at least April 24 in accordance with Governor Evers' Safer at Home order. During this time, you can still access some of our resources and programs online.
Inquiries: Library staff members are available to provide assistance by email (email@example.com) or Facebook messenger. The building and phones are not currently being staffed.
Due dates and returns: Due dates for all materials checked out in the South Central Library System have been extended until May 1, 2020. DeForest Library materials may be returned at any time using our outdoor book returns.
Materials on hold: We are not able to offer curbside or electronic pick up of materials on hold until April 24 at the earliest.
Public wifi: The library’s public wifi is accessible outside the building. The signal is strongest on the Library Street side, near the Children’s Room.
Free online services and resources: The library offers a variety of online services and resources for free at www.deforestlibrary.org. For example, patrons can use their library card and pin numbers to download ebooks and audiobooks through Overdrive and Libby and stream videos and TV shows through Kanopy and Kanopy Kids.
Online programs: We are offering and developing a variety of online programming. Ms. Emily, the Children’s Services Librarian, is offering live storytimes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10 am. Qigong classes, book clubs, and the memoir writing group are also moving to online formats. We're looking forward to offering a community read, guest readers, and other new programs on our Facebook page.
