Library Board Approved Minutes - November 3, 2014

DeForest Area Public Library Regular Library Board Minutes
Monday, November 3, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.

  1. Call to Order and Roll Call
    • President Van Iten called the meeting to order at 6:00pm.
    • Present : Blount, Englesby, Gorres, Van Iten, Ziegler.
    • Absent : Borden, Lawrence.
    • Also present : Berg, Newbegin.
  2. Approval of Agenda
    • Motion to Approve as presented : Gorres.
    • Second : Englesby.
    • Action : Approved.
  3. Approval of Regular Meeting Minutes of October 9, 2014.
    • Motion to Approve as presented : Ziegler.
    • Second : Gorres.
    • Discussion : Van Iten noted a misspelling of her name. The minutes will be corrected.
    • Action : Approved.
  4. Public Presentations / Communications
    • Berg shared thank you cards from the Dane County Humane Society and DANN for the donations from the last Summer Reading Program.
  5. Approval of Bills
    • Motion to Approve the Bills : Englesby.
    • Second : Gorres.
    • Discussion : Berg discussed the bill for the July 4th parade candy and the Amazon prime bill.
    • Action : Approved.
  6. Reports
    1. Director's - Berg noted her report included in the Board packet covered everything but she added that she has also been extensively weeding the adult non-fiction collection.
    2. President's - None.
    3. Village Update - Blount reported the Village had been discussing brush pickup, the yard waste center, and possibly extending its hours.
  7. Old Business
    1. Discussion and possible approval of 2015 Budget
      • Motion to approve the 2015 Budget : Englesby.
      • Second : Gorres.
      • Discussion : The budget was discussed and reviewed. There was also discussion about revenue limits.
      • Action : Approved.
    2. Discussion of plans for the 50th Anniversary celebration. - The 50th Anniversary reception/open house is scheduled for Monday, December 1, 2014 from 6:00pm-7:30pm. There will be a brief ceremony at 6:20. Refreshments will be served. Berg also mentioned invitations will be sent to area boards and former library board members.
