Volunteer Job Description: Workshop Program/Event Assistant

General purpose

Provide support for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Manufacturing) programs/events.

Duties

  • Assists with STEAM programs or events.
  • Duties will vary by program/events, but may include preparing program materials and equipment, greeting attendees, sharing your talents and skills, showing others how to create small projects, or post-program/event clean-up.

Work Environment & Equipment

  • Primarily an indoor work environment.
  • Equipment for crafts and light woodworking; 3D printers, scanners, and pens; STEAM games and toys, and other miscellaneous items.

Time Commitment

  • May commit to a single program/event or more frequently (e.g., weekly, monthly).
  • May be done during the library’s regular daytime, evening, or weekend hours.
  • If unable to volunteer at scheduled time, must contact STEAM Librarian.

Qualifications

  • Must be friendly, responsible, enjoy working with people of all ages, and enjoy sharing your knowledge and skills.
  • Prior experience with or willingness to learn craft, light woodworking, and other STEAM activities.
