The Handphibians are a community of musicians from Madison, Wisconsin, who specialize in studying and performing Brazilian percussion.

This show will present Saideira Pagode (pronounced "sai DAY ruh, pa GOH jee,"), consisting of a subset of several longtime members of The Handphibians. They perform Brazilian 'pagode' music, a roots samba style featuring small drums and percussion as well as strings and singing.

Each winter, the Handphibians host "Madison Carnaval", a two-decade strong annual tradition in Madison that aims to capture the essence of Brazilian music and dance. Throughout the year, the organization holds several 10-week sessions of the "Handschool", a hands-on Brazilian drumming course open to adults of all experience levels.

As their motto says, the rhythm of the people doesn't stop!  O ritmo do povo não para!

Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs and enjoy the wonderful entertainment with us!
