Photo Group Field Trip: Token Creek County Park

Sunrise will be at 7:16 a.m. on October 19, and our photography group will be there to greet it! Token Creek is located just off of Highway 51 and I-94 near the Pine Cone Restaurant.

Among the park’s many features are an elevated boardwalk through a sedge meadow marsh. Meet us at the parking lot closest to the park entrance. Bring your camera, tripod, and dress for the weather.

The inability to see well makes doing things difficult. Those with low vision may have trouble recognizing the faces of friends. Seeing the television and checking price tags becomes harder. Reading mail becomes an ordeal. Walking in the neighborhood is a challenge. What can people do about their low vision? What can they do to maintain their quality of life and make the most of their remaining vision? This topic is a specialty of Dr. Kallie Harrier of Essential Family Vision. By the end of nineteenth century, food was dangerous. Lethal, even.

"Milk" might contain formaldehyde, most often used to embalm corpses. Decaying meat was preserved with salicylic acid and borax. This was not by accident; food manufacturers embraced industrial chemistry, and were knowingly selling harmful products. Unchecked by government regulation, basic safety, or even labeling requirements, they put profit before the health of their customers.

In this workshop we'll hear some classic poems of peace. We'll also talk briefly about styles of poems and a few easy ways to think about your area and style of writing. Then we'll take some time to start writing our own poems of peace. You might go home with your first poem, and then try writing more!
