Professor Ronald J. Berger's compelling book is the true story of his uncle and father, Jewish men who survived the Holocaust in Nazi-occupied Poland as children. One brother endured several concentration camps, while the other passed as Catholic among anti-Semitic Poles and eventually became an officer in the Soviet Army. Berger traces the defining prewar, wartime, and postwar events that marked their extraordinary lives in his book.

This much researched book is a compilation of fascinating stories. For instance, did you know there was a third member of the Wright Brothers Team, a sibling, without whose assistance manned flight might not have gotten off the ground? How history might have been written quite differently if not for the all but forgotten famous people that no one has heard of?

Generations of children and adults worldwide have been fascinated by the stories of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Her “Little House” series was the basis for a successful television series. But how did her life really evolve? What motivated her to put her experiences to paper?

Meet Mrs. Wilder, older, wiser, and reflecting back on her life. She will tell you her life story and how she came to produce her literary works.

This program is part of the Library’s outreach programming. It is free and open to everyone in the community. Refreshments will be served.

The Garbo: The Musical

Join us for an original one-woman musical about the enigmatic Swedish film star, Greta Garbo!

Considered by many the greatest film actress of all time, her image was that of androgynous glamour. Dissatisfied with Hollywood scripts, and her natural beauty starting to fade, she retired from the screen at 36 and became a recluse in Manhattan. Miss G’s spicy and revealing story answers all the burning questions the world has been dying to know about “The Garbo.”

QiGong Classes - Registration Required

Qigong is a moving meditation that is simple, easy to learn, and can be done by everyone, at any age and fitness level.

Just mirror the movements of the instructor and reduce tension, improve breathing, and increase flexibility.

Open to ages 16 & up. Participants need to register and sign a waiver (waivers are available at the front desk and will be available at the first class).
