Wetland Wonders: Pond Science - 1:00 pm Session

Join Environmental Educators from the Aldo Leopold Nature Center as we explore Sunfish Pond!  We will use binoculars to watch life on and around the pond, use nets to discover the macroinvertebrates, and finally we will learn about the plants that support this wonderful wetland community.

The Snail and the Whale: A Musical Tale

Join us for a musical children’s storytime, featuring a local storyteller retelling The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler, with live music performed by the Stoughton Chamber Players (violin, viola, and cello). Get ready to meet some fantastic beasts! Did you know that animals are helping with scientific discoveries for medical advances from using scorpion venom to illuminate cancer cells, to how Gila monster saliva can help with diabetes? Naturalist and animal rescuer Dino Tlachac, aka Professor Venom, will showcase many exotic creatures and share cool scientific facts about them at this interactive program.

Live ocean sharks are coming to the library. Join us to explore the important roles sharks play in the ecosystem, learn how the actions of people in the landlocked Tri-State area impact sharks that live thousands of miles away, and discover how people can help protect them. Afterwards, prepare to get your hands wet and touch some of the sharks.
