2019 Winter Reading Program: Reading is the Cat's Meow - Registration Required

Please only enter reading level appropriate books that you read during this program.

Dragon Dollars can be spent in the Prize Store or donated to either the DeForest Area Public Library Endowment Fund, the Dane County Humane Society, or the DeForest Area Needs Network. For more information about each of these organizations click their name to visit their website.

Non-redeemed Dragon Dollars (meaning they are on your online account as still owed to you) can be donated to any of the three organizations by sending an email to jsvetlik@deforestlibrary.org before end of day Sunday, March 3, 2019. Please include the amount you are donating to the specific organization(s). Redeemed Dragon Dollars must be donated in person.

All Dragon Dollars earned this reading program will expire at the end of the day Sunday, March 3, 2019.

Anyone is welcome to come into the Workshop to explore and see what it has to offer. Try your hand at sphero, osmo, snap circuits, and 3D printing, or many other options to nurture your inner scientist. There will be a librarian on hand to answer your questions and to help get you started.

All the library's LEGO® bricks at your beck and call to build to your heart's content. If that wasn't enough we will also be showing a LEGO® themed movie to energize your building skills.

Samantha's Amazing Acro-Cats | Saturday, February 23 - 1:30pm | Community Room


Come see the documentary about self-taught animal trainer, Samantha Martin, who quits her day job to create America's first traveling cat circus, The Amazing Acro-cats.

Teen Games will meet twice a week, Monday and Thursday.

Each day will have its own Dungeons and Dragons session.

There will also be a variety of amazing games to play, like Munchkin, Fluxx, Loot Letter, Chupacabra: Survive the Night, and more.

Learn To Quilt - Registration Required with Karen & Evelyn | Tuesday, February 26 - 5:30pm | Classroom - Lower Level


These avid quilters are excited to teach others their craft. In a 9-week session, you can make this beginner’s quilt they have named “Love of Quilting”. Beginning February 5, Karen and Evelyn will lead you in step-by-step lessons. Some supplies will be provided. A complete supply list will be given to participants at the time of registration. Details and registration information available on January 14.

  • All sessions are on Tuesdays: February 5 & 26 - March 5, 12, 19, & 26 April 9 & 16
  • Sessions begin at 5:30 p.m. downstairs in The Classroom.
  • You can bring your own sewing machine, if you’d like.
  • Open to those ages 12 & up. An adult must accompany those under 16 years old.
  • A waiver must be signed.
